Troubleshooting As we developed the game, it was our goal that it run on any Windows platform. This was no small task as new Windows versions contain changes and “improvements” that can impact the game. We’ve learned the following tricks that allow the game to function and display properly across different Windows platforms: 1. The first time I play, I got an error message “ATLT0007” and the game quit. 2. The text is not displaying properly in the game. Some test or boxes display as black instead of white. On the Power Match screen, the terms cannot be seen at the top. 3. The game is not centered on my screen and I can’t see the bottom buttons. 4. The games transitions are very slow. See below for examples of these problems and the solutions to fix them. 1) The first time I played, I got an error message “ATLT0007” after the “Make Your Game” screen and the game quit. Solution:
This occurs in Windows XP when a user is logged on with limited security
access (non-administrator) and tries to play the game. The following
changes will need to be made to allow users with restricted access “write
access” to the ATLT files only. XPHome and XPProfessional. After installing the game, double click on the file for your version of Windows and the ATLT files will be changed from “read only” to “change”. A black window will open and some script will scroll by. Close this window after the script stops. A limited user will now have access to the game after registration is complete. This file will only need to be run one time. 2) The text is not displaying properly in the game. Some test or boxes display as black instead of white. On the Power Match screen, the terms cannot be seen at the top. Solution: This problem has been identified on computers running Windows XP where themes have not been reset to Windows Classic, or the XP default. This is a requirement to run the game. Reset themes in your Control Panel under “Appearance and Themes.” Other themes affect the display of text boxes depending upon the color of the theme.
3) The game is not centered on my screen and I can’t see the bottom buttons. See examples below. Solution: This problem was encountered on a machine running Windows XP media edition with a 19 “monitor. To fix it, right click on the ATLT icon in your Start bar or your desk top. Select “Properties” and “Compatibility.” Then select “256 colors” and “Apply.” You should also double check that your DPI Setting is set to Normal (96). This is also in Control Panel/Display/Settings/ Advanced button/General tab.
4. The games transitions are very slow. Solution: The speed of the transitions will vary from computer to computer. If your computer’s system is bogged down running multiple applications then the games transitions will be very slow. Try closing the applications before playing the game to improve the transitions speed. We also have found that if Microsoft Media Player application is operating at the same time ATLT is operating that the transitions will increase significantly. 5) After I closed the game, my desktop/screen looks bigger than it should. Solution: If the game is aborted and not closed properly, you will need to reset the default on your screen resolution, go to Control Panel/Display/Settings, and reset the screen resolution to your preference.
